Julie is an experienced training consultant and personal development coach who specialises in people development and life skills. She also has considerable experience in the design and delivery of a variety of workshops to enhance the skills, knowledge and attitude at all levels within the business environment. These include team building, team leadership, management development, personal awareness, stress management, executive coaching and mentoring. As a skilled facilitator and people developer, Julie uses a variety of tools and techniques to enable individuals and companies to meet their full potential. These include NLP, accelerated learning and other inspirational and dynamic learning approaches. Julie’s style is fun, energetic, practical and motivating. She ensures that whatever individuals learn that it is applicable to improving their work and personal life.
Julie founded Jewel Training & Development in 1999 to offer high quality training and coaching support to all types and sizes of organisations. Her values are integrity, passion, fairness, creativity and being customer-centric. She promotes these values in her choice of training Associates, Jewel’s delivery style and the way Jewel builds relationships with all its clients.
Jenny graduated from Oxford Brookes University with a BA Honours Degree in Business Studies and a Diploma from the Chartered Institute of Marketing. For ten years she worked as a highly successful Channel and Account Manager within the telecommunications sector.
She is enthusiastic, organised, and has a sense of adventure – traits which supported her while living for two years in New Zealand. Upon returning to the UK, Jenny had a career break to raise two children. Jenny returned to work as Business Development Manager for Jewel Training and is currently supporting our existing customers with their training and development requirements, while exploring new markets and building new customer relationships.
Operations Manager Toni was a secretary in the Civil Service for 12 years, gaining administrative experience that translates into the training environment. She then worked in the editorial team for specialist magazines including Land Rover Enthusiast which fuelled her passion for driving Land Rovers off road.
In her role as Operations Manager, Toni is responsible for quality control, creation of course materials, co-ordination of the trainers and their training responsibilities.
Additionally, Toni deputises for Julie Johns, Director of Jewel Training and Development Ltd.
Administrator Susan joined Jewel Training after a career break to bring up her family. Prior to this, Susan spent 23 years working in the financial services sector, where she gained a wide and varied set of skills that are appropriate to the administration of training and development courses and workshops.
Her strengths lie in her excellent attention to detail and proficient customer service. Susan is responsible for assisting the Operations Manager in all aspects of the daily running of Jewel’s business.
Kyle is joining Jewel Training on a year-long Intermediate Apprenticeship in Marketing. He has recently finished his A-Levels at Wallingford School, leaving with qualifications in Business and Media.
Kyle will be responsible for supporting the sales team in maintaining existing and developing new, client and partner relationships through: developing social media channels; website updates; newsletters; marketing materials; case studies and attending networking events amongst other things.
He is very confident when talking to small or large groups of people, as well as having excellent customer service skills from previous part-time employment.
Quality Assurance Manager Debbie has over 15 years’ experience of consulting on Management, Leadership and Coaching programmes.
She began her career as a teacher where she realised a passion for developing people and enhancing performance. She went on to develop her business skills by working nationally and internationally within Epson (UK) Ltd and subsequently with the McDonnell Douglas Corporation where she was leading teams working to sales targets of £20 Million per annum. Her most recent experience has been working with Oxford Brookes University as a Consultant to their Core Management and Leadership Programme which was shortlisted for the Times Higher Education Awards for ‘Outstanding Contribution to Leadership Development’.
Debbie combines her business experience with her training and development expertise to ensure that her interventions maximise individual and organisational performance. Debbie is an accredited Internal and External Verifier for the Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) and has managed programmes in both the Private and Public sectors. These have included Unipart, Babcock, RAF, Royal Navy and Oxfordshire County Council. Debbie has degrees in English and Law, both from London University, and post-graduate qualifications in Management and Coaching and Mentoring.
She has been a Consultant with Jewel Training and Development since the company was formed and has now taken on the role of Quality Assurance Manager. She is a member of ILM and the Institute of Directors.
Louise is the Finance Assistant here at Jewel Training.
Emma Barnett has been working as a Facilitator and Trainer since 2000. This has been for a variety of companies including City Challenge, dunnhumby, RSA, Said Business School, Alstom Engineering, Mars, La Tasca and The Savoy Group.
She has provided training in Management and Leadership programmes, Presentation Skills, Effective Communication Skills and Teambuilding. The Teambuilding has come in various guises ranging from outdoor treasure hunts and outdoor building activities, to karaoke days, all the way up to putting on a full scale musical production in a day! Emma is also a qualified personal trainer and class instructor which gives her a unique and complementary skillset that interweaves through all the work she undertakes.
Emma is also a qualified practitioner in Myers Briggs (MBTI), a personality profile designed to measure psychological preferences. Emma has a refreshing and personal approach to running workshops and enjoys leaving a group enlightened, enthused and excited about what they’ve learned.
Bran is an experienced tutor and teacher, with excellent people skills and a positive approach to learning. As well as TESOL Certification, Bran is qualified to deliver and assess qualifications in English, Maths, IT and NVQs. Her specialist area is as an NQV assessor. She has experience of working with both individuals and groups, and has a constructive approach to group feedback, spotting trends, suggesting possible improvements, thinking through and piloting new approaches.
Bran has wide-ranging, sound business and administration skills, with a proven track record of meeting targets and exceeding Key Performance Indicators. Bran has knowledge of dealing effectively with student welfare issues, problem solving with colleagues, safeguarding, risk management and Health & Safety processes.
Alison is an experienced training professional who provides expertise in people and management development, leadership skills, and facilitation. She developed her career with Peugeot as a HR officer, moved on to Unipart group of companies as a Training Manager and now works as a consultant with organisations such as Rolls Royce, SEEDA, GE and Hayes Logistics.
Alison has a BA (Hons) in Economics and Sociology, is a Member of the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development, NLP Business Practitioner, holds NVQ D32 and D33, is qualified to the British Psychological Society certificate level B and is now an NLP master.
Martin is an accomplished human performance specialist, with over 15 years’ experience. This experience was honed in the public sector, culminating in Ministerial awards for programme quality and delivery. In addition, he has 10 years of proven commercial and international experience, which has gained international governing body recognition.
Martin has extensive expertise in Selection and Assessment, Learning and Development, Coaching, Performance and Educational methodologies, which he uses to design and deliver results focused programmes. He has established Assessment Centres across the globe using a range of off the shelf products or in house tools and has been instrumental in the design and development of unique selection tools. These tools have been innovative in incorporating a range of methods and platforms.
He has held functional responsibility for both small and large Recruitment and Performance Management teams. Using knowledge of group dynamics, decision making, human error and situation awareness, Martin has ensured successful development of teams as a manager in business and a consultant to industry leading organisations. In addition, he designed and developed Talent Management programmes impacting positively on over 2000 employees, gaining Ministerial awards and National accreditation.

Fran’s expertise in people development and human resource management has been gained from extensive experience in blue-chip environments, the public sector and from teaching in further education colleges. Her style is vibrant, positive and modern and she is a results-focused deliverer who works to an extremely high professional standard.
A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development, a member of the Institute of Management and the Association of Stress Consultants, Fran is a now a director of a HR and Training Consultancy now in its twentieth year of trading. Fran is passionate about helping people to understand and operate on the right side of Employment Law and having studied law she was called to the Bar in July 2011.
Fran is proud to be a Member of the Honorary Society of Middle Temple. Prior to becoming a freelance consultant she has held senior HR Management positions, including HR Manager for a public sector organisation and Personnel Manager at a branch of a major high street retailer interspersed with a period of time as a further education college lecturer.
Paul has 16 years of project and programme management experience gained across a number of sectors primarily focussed on employee engagement and learning and development.
His formative project management skills and experience were gained at Unipart, one of Europe’s largest logistics and consultancy operations. Whilst there, Paul worked as both a Project and Programme Manager. He was responsible for leading a number of high profile projects ranging in size from £10k through to £5 million, working with clients such as Vodafone, Shell, Wedgewood Ceramics and the Adult Learning Inspectorate. More recently, Paul has been Head of the Project Management Office at a leading Learning and Development organisation, responsible for the management of a team of project managers and the delivery of the organisation’s portfolio of projects.
Paul is committed to the profession of Project Management and is an active member of the APM (Association for Project Management). Paul is a qualified PRINCE2 Practitioner and holds the APMP qualification through the APM. He is an authorised trainer for both the APM and PRINCE2, this is delivered through Paul Richardson Consultancy and Training Services, an affiliate of the Demos Group. He also holds the advanced practitioner level qualification for the APMG Managing Successful Programmes.
He is a strong communicator and comfortable operating with people from all levels of an organisation. Paul favours a facilitative approach to training and by drawing upon his considerable industry experience, Paul makes his training events mirror the real world thus helping delegates to visualise how they can apply the theory to their own workplace.
Miranda’s main focus is to help individuals to develop their skills and confidence in their role and to make the most of their abilities. She has particular experience of working with those who are exploring the requirements of leading or managing others from a diverse range of backgrounds – from the public and private sector, industry, further and higher education, the prison service and community groups.
Using a facilitative style – providing a content framework to allow exploration of ways to improve – Miranda starts with the issues and helps both individuals or groups find their own solutions. Specific topic areas include: leadership, personal effectiveness, assertiveness at work and developing training skills.
Sian Starr is an experienced interpersonal skills trainer and is dedicated to delivering high quality courses. Her training career started with Pricewaterhouse Coopers where she was responsible for providing interpersonal skills training for all support staff.
Her training style encourages participation by using a variety of training techniques. This ensures all delegates benefit from her courses and are able to transfer their learning to the workplace. She creates a relaxed atmosphere to facilitate discussion and will guide delegates to come up with their own ideas and solutions.
James believes that all training should be enjoyable, as well as practical. He is a professional writer who has written well over 100 books and also edited a specialist magazine for ten years. He graduated in Modern Languages from Oxford University and went on to take a PhD, then qualified as a trainer with the ITD while working for the Civil Service in the 1980s.
He has run writing and other courses for more than 25 years, and continues to work as a journalist and author alongside his training activities.
Training clients have included several Civil Service departments and a number of private sector businesses. James has also worked as a consultant in the public sector, assisting with the development of complex report structures for specific purposes.
Howard Wilcox has held senior operational roles across the UK manufacturing sector for over 25 years, formatively in the automotive sector and latterly in other industry sectors. In this time he has a proven track record of delivering bottom line profitability coupled with high levels of quality and customer service.
Since 2008 Howard has business interests in Business Improvement Consultancy, Training, Assessment and Coaching across a broad base of manufacturing and service industries.
Howard’s approach is to utilise the tools through Lean Six Sigma methodologies in a pragmatic and situation appropriate manner. Using his hands on experience, business improvement and team development programmes are delivered helping to create a platform for Continuous Improvement for any organisation through building knowledge and confidence in the individuals and teams to be able to apply the improvement tools successfully.
Along with his Lean Six Sigma knowledge and experience, Howard is a qualified Trainer, NVQ Assessor, Coach and a Fellow of Manufacturing Management from Cranfield University. His consultancy work is based on taking a view on the end to end value stream and engaging the team to develop data driven solutions to add further sustained value going forward. He understands the impact of waste on Quality, Service and Bottom Line.
Simon has been involved in training and development for over twenty years. He is a communication and business coach who has an encouraging, challenging and sometimes “off the wall” style. He began his career with Rank Xerox holding senior positions in Sales Management, Major Account Development and Training. It was here that Simon first developed his passion for optimising organisational, team and personal performance.
His work in training and personal coaching extends to such disciplines as Leadership Development, Relationship Management, Team Dynamics, Business and Personal Stress Resolution, Change Management, Organisational and Personal Motivation, Communication, Customer Service, Sales Strategy and Negotiation. Through Simon’s research into modelling top industry performers, his work with both call centre and customer facing sales teams has produced significant results in improving performance and transforming conversion rates.
Simon is a qualified Master Practitioner of Relationship Awareness. He is also a qualified Therapist and Stress Management Consultant.
Siobhan is an experienced Trainer with a vast range of knowledge and expertise in the management and delivery of training programmes for a wide range of organisations. Specialist areas include writing and delivery of Management and Personal Development courses, as well as courses for bespoke computer systems and Microsoft Office products.
