At the start of the year, we set goals and objectives for ourselves and our staff to give us focus and direction plus motivate us for the year ahead.
But what are goals?
At Jewel we set three goals only every three months – based on the concept of the Power of Three. Also, three is a number that feels achievable and manageable to most people.
We then set WAGs! Worthwhile Achievable Goals. These are goals that are written so they are Stretching, Motivating, Agreed, Realistic and have a Timescale. We also Integrate our goals into our personal drivers and company strategy to create SMARTI goals.
Finally, these need to be recorded, reviewed and used! Goals need to be used dynamically. If you are a manager of staff use your recorded Goals in your 1to1 sessions. If you write personal goals for yourself put them somewhere so you can see them daily. Perhaps post-its on your mirror or fridge door?
